Important Information for Teacher Credential Candidates in Two Semester Progams Submitting a PACT Teaching Event in Spring 2009
The faculty, staff and administration of the College of Education hope that you have a productive and worthwhile experience with the process of developing your PACT Teaching Event. Below are descriptions of some technical resources that the College of Education will provide to facilitate the preparation of your Teaching Event. Please read these descriptions and the accompanying instructions very carefully so that your ability to access these resources is maximized.
Cameras
The College of Education has purchased a set of camera kits (digital cameras, tripods, external microphones, camera bags, chargers, etc.). These kits can be checked out in Eureka 207 beginning on Monday, February 23rd. Check out hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Angelita Sepulveda is the staff person who will assist with the check out.
(NOTE: You are not required to use a College of Education camera. If you own your own digital recorder or have easy access to one AND are fairly experienced with using digital recorders, you may opt not to use a College of Education camera. We do have equipment that can facilitate the video transfer from most digital cameras, so you may still consider attending a technical assistance lab. If you have limited experience with digital recorders and/or cannot access a recorder on your own, we hope you will take advantage of the cameras available through the College.)
Important Information about Camera Check Out
-
Your camera kit will have all you need to begin filming EXCEPT tapes for the camera.
-
We suggest that you purchase several tapes so that you are able to record as much of your lesson sequence as possible on new tape. It is NOT advisable to purchase just one tape and record over footage from one day to the next (unless you are absolutely certain that you have successfully transferred video from the camera to your computer or a flash drive each day).
-
You should purchase miniDV tapes. Several well known manufacturers (Sony, RadioShack, Fuji, Canon, etc.) make these tapes. The Hornet Bookstore has been alerted to stock these miniDV tapes.
-
You will be required to present your Sacramento State One Card in order to check out a camera. A copy of your card will be made and you will also be required to complete a camera check out agreement. This agreement is binding and if you do not adhere to the terms of the agreement, a hold will be placed on your student record.
The camera check out period is 5 working days or less. If you complete your videotaping in less than 5 working days, we strongly encourage you to return the camera so that it can be made available to other candidates who will need it. Please maintain possession of the camera kit at all times and do NOT lend the camera checked out to you to any one else, even if they are a colleague in the teacher preparation program.
