Technical Assistance Labs

We have piloted the implementation of the PACT system for several semesters and, through this experience, discovered that the process of transferring the videotape of your lesson sequence to a CD can be challenging. As a result, our ITC staff will offer a series of technical assistance labs.

Please follow the guidelines below if you plan to attend one of the labs.

  1. Please RSVP to Brandon Abell (abell@csus.edu) if you intend to attend one of the labs (see dates to the right). Specify the date that you plan to attend.

  2. Before you come to the technical assistance lab, you MUST identify the video segment that you wish to transfer and cue your tape to the beginning of this segment. Our ITC staff will not be able to assist you with pedagogical or content-oriented questions related to the selection of your video segment – for these issues, be sure to pay careful attention to any guidance your instructors have given you about how to select a video segment that is appropriate for the Teaching Event.

  3. Bring one or more CDs with you to the technical assistance lab. We will not be able to provide you with a CD.

  4. During the technical assistance labs, we will make available for your use two multi-document scanners. Scanned items can be converted into PDF files that can then be stored electronically.

  5. Please NOTE:

    1. staples, clips, tape, etc. must be removed from any items that will be scanned and;

    2. originals should be in an 8.5” x 11” format (e.g., make copies of materials from a teacher’s manual prior to using the scanner as it cannot support originals in non-standard formats).

  6. Please note: those needing to compress video tape to CD should plan to spend about 45 minutes in the lab. (If you need to scan items, you can do so while the video compression occurs).
