Clear-Level: Specialist Credential Program
Early Childhood Special Education

(No other Educational Specialist Credential held)

Please note that Professional Clear-Level courses will not be offered on the Sac State campus as of Fall 2011. If you need to complete this CCTC requirement, contact your district or county BTSA office for an alternate means of meeting this credential level.
The Clear-Level Program is also available through the College of Continuing Education for our Bay Area Program (college-credits earned that can be applied to a M.A.). Contact Lori May at mayl@csus.edu for more information.

Prerequisites 

  • Completion of a valid Preliminary Level I Early Childhood Special Education Credential;

  • A teaching position providing direct instruction to students officially designated as receiving special education services in a public school, private school, or equivalent status;

  • Admittance to CSUS Graduate and Departmental Program; and

  • Approved by CSUS Level II mentor.

Elective Candidates must also complete one elective course (3-units) with Level II advisor approval. Advisor approved non-IHE course/ workshops may qualify as an elective. 3

Please Note

  • EDS 267A/B and EDS 268A/B cannot be taken simultaneously.

  • EDS 252A/B is a pre-/co-requisite to EDS 267A/B and EDS 268A/B.

  • To complete a Clear Credential, CCTC also requires a Health and Technology experience prior to completing Level 2. CSUS offers HLSC 136 School Health Education and EDS 291A/B Technology in Special Education to fulfill these requirements. They may be completed during Level 1 or Level 2 coursework. Check with your Advisor per the scheduling of these courses in your program studies.
