Sacramento State Mild/Moderate Program Overview: Preliminary Educational Specialist Credential, Clear Professional (old Level II), and M.A.

Preliminary Mild/Moderate Coursework & Field Experiences (44-48 Units)

Total preliminary Core Units includes 9-11 units of student teaching experiences; a candidate may meet some of these state requirements in their own place of special education employment. Total units may be appreciably less based upon equivalencies granted by a departmental advisor per previous experiences, university courses, and credentials held by a candidate.

Candidates may attend the program full-time or part-time. The Mild/Moderate Educational Specialist Credential Program can be completed in as little as three full-time semesters. Internships are available: check with the EDS Office for guidelines.

A Professional Clear program is not offered on the Sacramento State campus as of Fall 2011. If you need to complete this CCTC requirement, contact your local district or county BTSA Office for an alternate means of meeting this credential level.
