Urban Leadership Program

The purpose of the Urban Leadership Program is to graduate change-agents, who are effective in reducing the achievement gap, in advocating for students, and who are strategic, courageous leaders. The program is unique in that is dedicated to improving urban schools, to matching the racial/cultural demographics of urban districts, and in requiring an authentic, unwavering commitment to urban schools and communities. Our definition of urban is very broad, and includes some bilingual/bicultural schools where there are achievement gap challenges.

The program recruits applicants who have experience working with marginalized communities, who have a vision for change, and who are prepared to do hard work. The program is not for everyone. It takes a high level of commitment to keep up with the workload for this program. Graduates will have a strong foundation in strategic planning, understand organizational change dynamics, have knowledge of practitioner skills for administration, and have a vibrant network of other activist leaders.
