The commitment to excellence is focused on developing transformational leaders willing and capable of taking strategic risks in improving institutions of higher education.
The Knowledge to Lead
Graduate students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge to lead educational organizations. Knowledge in different leadership styles will prepare tomorrow's change agent to adapt to the postsecondary educational setting in areas of academic preparation & enrichment initiatives, academic advising, peer support services, multicultural training, and residential living.
Graduate students discover new techniques to solve historical problems in higher education and acquire the skills to put those solutions into practice.
The Education of Leaders
The program seeks to develop aspiring leaders by providing opportunities to identify and practice leadership skills and competencies. Refining these attributes in an educational setting allows graduate students to reflect on different leadership styles in diverse environments. Within the Higher Education Leadership program, the faculty provide their practical expertise and scholarly experience in order to enrich teaching and learning in the classroom. The faculty challenges cohort members to think critically about issues impacting higher education and to explore solutions.
