This program will strengthen your Spanish language skills at the renowned Cemanáhuac Educational Community, while immersing you in the culture, history, education, and people of Mexico.
The program leader on the trip will be Dr. Peter Baird - Sacramento State Associate Professor of Bilingual/ Multicultural Education and coauthor of Beyond the Border: Mexico and the U.S. Today. He will supplement your language study with a seminar on current issues in Mexican education: immigration, contested national elections, teacher and indigenous community mobilizations in Oaxaca, NAFTA, multilingualism, the arts, and other issues that affect schooling in Mexico and the U.S.
- Attend orientation and complete a short reading list prior to departure.
