Getting to Campus

Sacramento State welcomes ATS students to the campus and encourages the use of University facilities during the summer. All ATS classes are held on the Sac State campus and use University classrooms and laboratories.

Transportation

ATS is a commuter program, and students must make their own arrangements to get to and from campus and classes. ATS students in the 6-9 Program are NOT escorted to and from class but are expected to be responsible, independent individuals and find their own way to class and around campus.

Parents of 4th and 5th graders will be required to sign a Policy Agreement form to indicate their choice between 1) an authorized adult signing their student in and out of class each day, or 2) allowing their student to leave class without adult accompaniment and verifying the student is mature enough to be on campus independently without supervision.

The Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) system can be a convenient means of getting to and from campus. Sacramento State is a major hub for RT, and several RT buses stop at the campus, providing an excellent means of transportation for students.

Carpooling can be an economical way of traveling to campus. As a courtesy, ATS generates regional lists of 6th-9th grade participants who are interested in carpooling. Areas include Sacramento Vicinity, I-80 East Corridor, I-80 West Corridor, Highway 50 East, San Joaquin Valley, and Yuba/Sutter Region. Applicants are responsible for contacting other families on the list to make carpool arrangements.

Parking

The University enforces parking regulations year round, seven days a week. Vehicles parked on campus must display a valid Sacramento State parking permit at all times, and any vehicle without a permit will be ticketed.

Daily permits may be purchased from one of the machines located around campus. Weekly permits are also available. There are a limited number of 30- and 45-minute spaces on campus, some of which require a permit. More information about parking on campus can be obtained from University Transportation and Parking Services (UTAPS).
