Financial Aid, Partnerships and Sponsorships
ATS is a self-supporting, nonprofit organization which receives no federal or state funding. In the past, some support has come from Sac State, corporate sponsors, local organizations, and individuals seeking to provide academically challenging opportunities and experiences for a diversity of students from throughout the Sacramento region.
Participant fees are charged for each course to cover program costs. Students may also be required to purchase textbooks.
ATS recognizes that some families' financial circumstances make it difficult to participate in classes. To provide equal educational opportunities for all qualified students regardless of the financial resources of the family, ATS offers scholarships and financial aid for summer classes. Over $42,000 in testing fee waivers and financial aid was awarded to students last year.
Each year, ATS provides generous financial aid to students from low-income families who otherwise might not be able to attend due to costs. The ATS Financial Aid Committee carefully reviews each application and allocates funds for full or partial support for one class. Applicants whose family income levels are lowest are awarded larger scholarships than those reporting higher incomes. Because funds are limited, scholarships are provided for only one class per student. This allows ATS to provide support to the greatest number of applicants possible.
The Target Schools campaign wasa established to increase access to academic opportunities for students who otherwise may not be able to attend due to economic hardships. Through this project, ATS identifies schools in the Sacramento area who have a statewide rank of 3 or lower on the Academic Performance Index and that serve a high percentage of low-income families. Once selected, highly able and motivated students from these Target Schools are encouraged to participate in academically advanced courses in ATS.
